Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Nirmala Danny, and I proudly call 44 Aberdeen Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I'm surrounded by lush landscapes and the vibrant culture that defines Guyana. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich traditions, from lively celebrations of Mashramani to the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot wafting through our neighborhoods. Food brings us together, and I always say you haven't truly experienced Guyana until you've had a plate of curry and rice with a side of fried plantains!
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we've built across the globe. Whether it's sharing stories or reminiscing about our favorite local dishes, like the beloved chow mein or a good roti, these bonds keep our culture alive. I often find myself in conversations that echo sentiments like "Do I love Guyana? Me?..... No!" but we all know the reality—our roots run deep, and there's a special place in our hearts for this land, no matter where we roam.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the lush surroundings of the Essequibo region, from the majestic Essequibo River to the serene beauty of the local mangroves. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
