Although I may not have made it to the Caribbean carnival, the spirit of our celebrations can be felt right here in Essequibo. My heart swells with pride as I watch our children grow up embracing traditions—whether it’s learning to pronounce the names of our stunning landmarks like Kaieteur Falls or simply enjoying the little things that make our culture rich and vibrant.
Having a connection with the Guyanese diaspora is important to me, as it allows us to share our experiences and keep our culture alive, no matter where life takes us.
