Hello and welcome! My name is Omawattie Mangal, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in beautiful Guyana. Nestled along the serene waters of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home is a stone's throw away from the vibrant Pom River, where the whispers of the wind carry the stories of our ancestors and the richness of our land. From the lush greenery to the rhythmic sounds of the river, life here is deeply intertwined with nature and community.
Growing up here, I've been fortunate to indulge in the culinary delights that our culture is known for—especially dishes like duck curry, which never fails to elicit fond memories and laughter among family and friends. I cherish the simple yet profound moments spent by the river, whether fishing or enjoying a meal with loved ones. As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I am passionate about connecting with my fellow citizens abroad and sharing our unique experiences, from the beauty of Lower Akawini Creek to the bustling streets of New York City, where many of us find ourselves navigating a new reality.
