Greetings! My name is Oneal De Leon, and I proudly hail from the vibrant heart of Guyana, specifically from Bank Essequibo, Phase 2 New Housing in Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated welder, I find joy in crafting and creating, working with my hands to bring projects to life. Growing up in Guyana, I have always cherished the rich flavors of our cuisine. From the delectable chana that I fondly remember enjoying in Georgetown to the festive atmosphere of Mashramani, which I attended in 2013, these experiences have shaped my identity. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of celebration, whether it’s at a local gathering or enjoying a hearty meal with family and friends. The camaraderie among our people, especially in places like Friendship Backlands and along the Upper Pomeroon River, reminds me of the strength and resilience of our community.
Though I now find myself part of the diaspora, my heart remains with Guyana. I often reflect on the beauty of our landscapes and the warmth of our culture. As I share my journey, I hope to keep the spirit of Guyana alive, fostering connections with others who feel the same pride for our homeland.
