Greetings! My name is Oneka Osborne, and I proudly call the Essequibo Railway Embankment in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Living in this vibrant region, I'm surrounded by the natural beauty of the Essequibo River and the rich cultural heritage that makes Guyana special. From the lush landscapes to the warm smiles of my neighbors, there's an undeniable sense of community that binds us together, much like the spices that flavor our beloved dishes.
As a resident of Pomeroon, I cherish the local food culture—nothing beats enjoying a plate of curry with roti, where you dip your bread in the sauce, savoring each bite amidst laughter and stories shared with friends. The essence of our cuisine is a true reflection of our diverse backgrounds, celebrating influences from Indian, African, and Indigenous traditions. Whether it’s a trip to River Macrapana Island or just a casual evening at Lower Pom. River, every moment spent here is enriched by the stories we share and the flavors we indulge in.
Though many of us have ventured far and wide, the Guyanese diaspora remains deeply connected to our roots. Like so many of my fellow countrymen, I carry a piece of the Pomeroon spirit with me, wherever life takes me. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
