Hello! I’m Onika Chase, a proud teacher living in the beautiful community of La Belle Alliance on the coast of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My heart beats for the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Caribbean influences creates a unique and lively atmosphere. From the lush banks of the Essequibo River to the bustling streets of Georgetown, I find inspiration in the rich heritage and the stories of our people.
As someone deeply connected to my roots, I cherish the flavors of Guyana, particularly the mouthwatering cook-up rice, spicy pepperpot, and the sweetness of our local fruits. As an educator, I strive to instill the same love for our culture and history in my students. I believe in the power of education to uplift and empower the next generation, ensuring they carry forward the spirit of our homeland, even when living abroad. I am passionate about fostering connections within the Guyanese diaspora and sharing our stories and experiences with the world, proving that, despite challenges, Guyana holds a special place in our hearts.
