Greetings! I’m Ormella Yhokmattie, a proud resident of the vibrant Coast 11 Second Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful land where the Essequibo River flows, and the laughter of my neighbors fills the air with warmth. Growing up here, I learned to cherish our rich traditions, from the sweet aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot on special occasions to the spirited celebrations of Diwali and Mashramani that bring our diverse communities together.
As a long-time advocate for our local culture, I believe in sharing the unique essence of Guyana with the world. My experiences traveling to different places have only deepened my appreciation for home. While I’ve enjoyed the landscapes of southern Mexico and beyond, nothing compares to the lush greenery of our rainforests or the thrill of a good cricket match at the local ground. There’s just something about the way we say “Mohandai” that resonates, a reflection of our shared understanding and close-knit spirit.

Whether it's encouraging fellow Guyanese in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots or simply sharing a meal at the roadside stalls, I aim to foster a sense of pride in our heritage.
