Hello! I’m Orrin Gibson, a proud Guyanese labourer living in the vibrant community of Scheme Essequibo Coast 222 in Pomona, Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich culture that our beautiful country has to offer. From the bustling streets of Georgetown to the serene banks of the Essequibo River, my heart is rooted in this dynamic land where diverse cultures blend to create a unique Guyanese identity.
Food holds a special place in my life; I cherish moments spent enjoying steaming plates of pepperpot and rotis, or savoring the sweet taste of coconut bread fresh from the oven. Our rich culinary heritage is a testament to our diverse backgrounds, and it often feels like a celebration whenever we gather with family and friends to share a meal. I also take pride in the achievements of my fellow Guyanese, like cricketers Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, whose talents have put us on the map globally.
Though I currently reside in Guyana, I feel a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora around the world. Their stories and experiences echo my own, reminding me of the resilience and strength that defines us.
