Greetings! My name is Orrin Moore, and I am proud to call the Coast 72 Housing Scheme in Jib, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant landscapes of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich culture and traditions. From the lively sounds of chutney and calypso music that echo through our communities to the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and roti at family gatherings, every moment is a celebration of our heritage. As a resident of this beautiful country, I often reflect on the connections between our homeland and the Guyanese diaspora. I have heard countless stories from friends and family who have traveled to the West Indian clubs in Queens and Brooklyn, where the spirit of our music and food brings us together, no matter the distance. It’s these shared experiences that keep our culture alive, reminding us of the memories we cherish and the bonds we maintain, even across oceans.
In my day-to-day life, I engage with my community to promote the beauty and potential of Guyana.
