Hello! My name is Orsino Fisher, and I'm a proud Guyanese welder living in the vibrant community of Lil Red on the Essequibo Coast. Born and raised in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of my homeland. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot or savoring some fresh cassava bread, the flavors of Guyana are a part of my daily life, reminding me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
As I hone my skills in welding, I draw inspiration from the industrious spirit of my community. The local craftsmanship reflects our history, from the stories of our East Indian ancestors who brought their traditions and culinary delights to our shores, to the African and Indigenous influences that create a unique blend of culture. Like many in the diaspora, I take pride in my roots while embracing the challenges and opportunities that come with living in a globalized world.
In my spare time, you’ll often find me enjoying the picturesque beauty of Waramuri Island or engaging with fellow Guyanese who share stories of our homeland. I believe that though we may be spread across the globe, our connection to Guyana remains strong, and it is this bond that fuels my passion for my craft and community.
