Welcome! I am Orton Richards, a proud farmer from the picturesque River Myrie Island in Koria, located in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this vibrant community, where the lush landscapes and flowing rivers inspire my daily work. Growing up surrounded by the richness of our land, I have developed a deep appreciation for the art of farming, cultivating everything from cassava to plantain, and sharing the bounty with my neighbors and family. Nothing beats a hearty meal of cook-up rice or a spicy pepperpot, bringing everyone together around the table.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I've found that our culture resonates strongly with many around the world. Whether it’s the warmth of calling someone "aunty" or "uncle," as is customary in many cultures, or the pride we take in our diverse heritage, there’s a sense of belonging that unites us. I’m often reminded of how our beloved Phil Lynott, a fellow Guyanese, made waves with his music, showing that our influence stretches far beyond our borders.
