Hello! I’m Owen Fredericks, a proud farmer from the River Jamaica Settlement in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My roots run deep in this lush land, where the fertile soil nurtures a vibrant array of crops. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture of our community, I've learned to appreciate the diverse influences that shape our local traditions, especially in food. From the fragrant Guyanese rice we cultivate to the delightful street food that brings people together at night, I find joy in sharing and celebrating our culinary heritage.
Living in this unique blend of cultures, I often reminisce about the delicious dishes that define our nation. While I understand that our Trini friends may have their favorites, there’s something special about the spices, flavors, and textures found in Guyanese cuisine. I take pride in my Indian heritage and the contributions it makes to our local cooking, particularly in the way we prepare our meals with love and care. Whether it's a family gathering or a community event, there's always a plate of curry or a pot of cook-up rice that brings us all together.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with friends and family around the world. Whether through sharing stories of our beautiful Pomeroon River or reminiscing about the vibrant life in Georgetown, I believe that our experiences shape our identity. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
