Welcome to my little corner of the world! My name is Owod Jahawir, and I proudly call Essequibo, in the lovely Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana, my home. As a dedicated housewife, I take joy in nurturing my family while celebrating the vibrant culture that defines our beautiful country. Guyana, once known as the "fruit basket of the Caribbean," is rich in traditions that I cherish and pass on—especially our renowned cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the beloved cook-up rice. I often find myself reminiscing about the sweet aroma of fresh fruits at the local markets, reminding me of the bountiful land we are blessed with.
My heart swells with pride when I think of the Guyanese community worldwide, especially those in places like New York, where Little Guyana pulses with life. It's a place where friends gather to share stories, connect over our shared culture, and enjoy each other's company, just like during the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani. Whether it’s dancing to the latest soca hits or sharing delicious dishes that remind us of home, the bond we have as a diaspora is unbreakable. I often watch as the community thrives, echoing our roots through every gathering, from the lively festivities at Grant Phoenix Park to the heartwarming gatherings in our homes.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
