About PATRICIA ELATRIS BYNOE

About Patricia Bynoe

Born and raised on the beautiful West Coast of Demerara, I am proud to call this vibrant region of Guyana my home. As a librarian, I am passionate about connecting people with the stories that shape our rich cultural heritage. Whether it's through the pages of a book or a digital resource, I strive to create a welcoming space where everyone can explore our unique history. You might even catch me enjoying a delicious roti, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, just like how a friend once remarked, "This nigga ate the roti like a damn sandwich smh." It’s this love for our food and culture that keeps me grounded and connected to my roots.

Living in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I am fortunate to be close to iconic landmarks like the Essequibo River and the Kaieteur Falls, which remind me of the natural beauty that surrounds us. I often share stories about our local traditions, from the vibrant festivals to the mouthwatering dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, with my community and friends, both near and far. Being part of the Guyanese diaspora means I can celebrate our culture with others who share the same love for our homeland. I believe that each story we tell reinforces our bond, and I am here for it!

In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether through local gatherings or online platforms where we reminisce about our childhoods and the rich tapestry of our experiences. From the bustling markets of Georgetown to the serene beaches of the coast, each moment spent with my community uplifts my spirit. Let’s continue to celebrate and share our heritage, one story at a time!
