Hello! My name is Patricia Toussaint, and I proudly call River Grant Lonely Jacklow in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a dedicated farmer, I nurture the rich soil of Guyana to produce some of our beloved local crops, from cassava to plantains. Living in a landscape blessed with rivers and lush greenery, I often find inspiration in the beauty of nature that surrounds me. The Essequibo River, just a stone's throw away, is a constant reminder of our heritage and the deep connection we share with the land.
Growing up in Guyana, I've always cherished our diverse culture, especially when it comes to food. Whether it’s cooking a hearty chicken curry or sharing a sweet treat like pepperpot during special occasions, our culinary traditions are a joyful celebration of our mixed heritage. I enjoy reminiscing with friends and family about our childhood experiences, whether it’s navigating the vibrant streets of Georgetown or simply enjoying a sunset by the river. These moments resonate deeply, reminding me of the strength and resilience of our community.
As part of the wider Guyanese diaspora, I take pride in representing our unique identity wherever I go. It warms my heart to connect with others who share our experiences, whether they are in Trinidad, the Bahamas, or beyond. We know that our history and geography may sometimes be misunderstood, but we carry a strong sense of belonging and pride in our roots. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
