Hello! My name is Pearl Alphonso, and I’m proud to call Regina Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my life here is filled with the vibrant colors and sounds of Guyanese culture. Whether it’s the lively chatter of neighbors or the enticing aroma of my mother’s famous pepper pot simmering on a Sunday, every moment is a celebration of our rich heritage.
Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and diverse communities of Guyana, I hold dear the memories of family gatherings where we enjoy a feast of 7 curry, each dish telling a story of our history. The local ZR vans, adorned with their unique colors, remind me of our spirited culture and the sense of togetherness that binds us. It’s this connection to my roots that I carry with me, especially when I interact with the Guyanese diaspora, who share a love for our homeland despite the many miles between us.
As I navigate life here in Regina Essequibo Coast, I remain deeply connected to my Guyanese identity. My hope is to foster these connections, whether by sharing our culinary delights or engaging in community efforts to uplift our people.
