My name is Pearl Peters, and I proudly reside in the heart of the Reliance Housing area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here has blessed me with an unparalleled appreciation for our rich heritage, from the lush landscapes of the Essequibo River to the mouthwatering delights of our local cuisine, like the ever-popular roti and the little joys of a good serving of Marmite. A touch of humor always brings us together—after all, it’s not just roodie, it’s roti! 😂
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with our fellow countrymen, no matter where we are in the world. Many of us share tales of our beloved Georgetown or reminisce about the traditions and festivals we grew up with, including the vibrant Amerindian cultures that are woven into our history. The Arekuna tribe and their contributions to our society remind us of the diverse backgrounds that make up our beautiful nation.
