Hello! I’m Pharmesh Sookhoo, a proud resident of Windsor Castle in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled along the Essequibo Coast, my home is a stone’s throw from the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, where the vibrant sounds of the rainforest blend seamlessly with the lively chatter of my community. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich culture, from the delicious flavors of our local cuisine to the warmth and resilience of our people.
As someone who enjoys the simple pleasures of life, I often find myself reminiscing about the mouthwatering curry dishes that make our gatherings unforgettable. Whether it's a Sunday meal featuring duck curry (which may or may not actually include duck 😄) or a festive celebration with family and friends, food serves as a central part of our social fabric. I believe that the essence of our identity lies in these shared experiences, and I cherish the moments spent with loved ones, whether we’re enjoying a meal or sharing stories of our homeland.
Despite the challenges we face, I remain hopeful for the future of Guyana.
