Hello! My name is Philip France, and I proudly hail from the lush landscapes of Essequibo, specifically the vibrant community of Hyde Park along the East Bank of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a mason, I take great pride in my craft, shaping the very foundations that build our homes and communities. Growing up in Guyana, I've been deeply influenced by the rich history of our land, known to many as "the Land of Many Waters," a name derived from the Amerindian language that reflects our abundant rivers and natural beauty.
Living in Guyana is a unique experience that I treasure. From the savory flavors of a hearty pepperpot to the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani, our cultural heritage is a source of immense pride. I often reminisce about the festive gatherings, filled with laughter and music, where friends and family come together to share stories, reminiscent of how our diaspora families adapt and thrive abroad. Though I reside in Essequibo, my heart is always connected to the Guyanese community, both locally and internationally, as we share a bond that transcends borders.
Whether it’s working on a new masonry project or sharing a bowl of metemgee with friends, I strive to embody the warmth and resilience of our people.
