Hello! My name is Poonam Kisssoon, and I proudly call the beautiful village of Anna on the Essequibo Coast my home. Growing up in Guyana has shaped my love for our vibrant culture, from the lively sounds of chutney and soca music that fill the air during wedding celebrations to the irresistible aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot that wafts through our streets. Whether it’s dancing at a wedding or sharing laughter with family over a plate of roti and curry, these experiences are at the heart of who I am.
Living in the lush Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I have a deep appreciation for our natural beauty, from the flowing rivers like the Pomeroon to the verdant landscapes that surround us. Our community is a rich blend of ethnicities and traditions, where connections to our Indian heritage and Indigenous roots flourish.
