Hi, I'm Prem Persaud, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, situated in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this lush area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us, from the serene waters of the Pomeroon River to the lively markets filled with fresh produce and local delicacies like pepperpot and metemgee. My roots run deep in this community, and I cherish the connections forged over shared meals and stories passed down through generations.
Living in Guyana is not without its challenges, especially as we face economic disparities that affect many in our beloved country. While a third of our population grapples with extreme poverty, I remain hopeful and committed to uplifting our community through social initiatives and engagement. It is essential for us, whether we are in Guyana or the diaspora, to come together and support one another in building a better future. The spirit of resilience is strong among us, as evidenced by the vibrant discussions and camaraderie found in our local gatherings.
