Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Rabia Hasim, and I’m proud to call 24 Maryville Leguan in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of our rivers and creeks, from the tranquil waters of Kairimap Creek to the vibrant life of the Essequibo River, I've developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that defines our country. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or gathering with family to share stories of the past, my life's experiences are enriched by our rich cultural tapestry.
As a resident of Guyana, I am acutely aware of the changes our nation is undergoing. The rapid development fueled by newfound oil wealth brings both hope and challenges. I often reflect on the sentiments shared by many in our diaspora community, as we navigate the complexities of modern life while holding onto the values that once defined us—love for community and respect for one another.
