Hello! My name is Rajendra Gocool, and I proudly call 15 Osterbeck Leguan, situated in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home. As a labourer, I find joy in hard work and the camaraderie of my community. Guyana, with its vibrant mix of cultures—be it the rich flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot, or the rhythmic beats of our folk music—fills my heart with pride. We are a land of diversity, home to six distinct races, including Amerindian, African, Chinese, Portuguese, East Indian, and European, each contributing their unique flavor to our collective identity.
Having grown up surrounded by the lush landscapes and flowing rivers, I cherish my roots deeply. The Pomeroon River, which flows near my home, is not just a body of water; it’s a source of stories and memories, from fishing with family to celebrating festivals along its banks. I often reminisce about the bustling markets where we gather for fresh produce and local crafts, reminding me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I appreciate the connections we share, whether it's through lively conversations on social media or the shared nostalgia for home-cooked meals. Despite being far from our homeland, the essence of Guyana remains alive in our hearts, and I am dedicated to celebrating and sharing my culture with others, ensuring that the spirit of Guyana continues to thrive wherever we may be.
