Greetings! I’m Rajish Samaroo, a proud farmer from the Essequibo Coast, specifically nestled at 17 Back Street Reliance in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. My roots run deep in this fertile land, where the lush greenery feeds not only the body but also the soul. From cultivating rice to planting the rich variety of fruits and vegetables that our country is known for, every day is a chance to connect with the heartbeat of our vibrant culture.
Living here means being surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Essequibo River and the friendly faces of my neighbors. It’s a place where we share laughter over a plate of delicious cookup rice and enjoy the freshness of local callaloo, which we fondly refer to as bahgi. Like many Guyanese, I dream of my fellow compatriots living abroad, whether it’s in the USA or as far as Ethiopia, visiting our shores to experience the warmth of our hospitality and the beauty of our heritage.
As I work the land, I’m also deeply aware of the connections that extend beyond our borders. I cherish the stories shared by the diaspora, reminiscing about home and keeping our traditions alive. Whether it’s the vibrant culture reflected in our festivals or the simple joy of enjoying a good cup of coffee, I believe that Guyana is a place where love and unity thrive, no matter where you are in the world. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
