Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Rajpattie Bhagwandai, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. Living on Coast 14 Second Street, I find joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it's preparing traditional Guyanese dishes like pepperpot and roti, or sharing stories with family and friends under the vast, starry skies. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, which is home to diverse cultures, from our Indigenous tribes, like the Arekuna, to the rich heritage of our Indo-Guyanese community.
As a housewife, my days are filled with the love of family and community. There's something special about gathering with loved ones around a table filled with delicious food, reminiscing about our rich past, and embracing the future together. I cherish the warmth of our Guyanese Creole, which often brings a smile when I hear it spoken, reminding me of our unique identity. It’s a language that carries the rhythms of our history and culture, often highlighted by the laughter of children playing in the streets or the lively tunes of our local music echoing through the air.
Though I may be rooted here in Guyana, I hold a deep connection to the diaspora community around the world. I often dream of the day when family from abroad, including those with ancestral ties from places as far as Nigeria, can visit and experience the genuine warmth of our hospitality. Whether it’s the lively atmosphere at the Georgetown markets or the serene beauty of the Essequibo River, there’s so much to discover and celebrate here in Guyana, a land that I am proud to call my own.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
