Greetings! My name is Ramdai Ramdial, and I proudly call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region home. Nestled along the Pomeroon River, my daily life revolves around the lush landscapes and rich traditions of Guyana. As a farmer, I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect our local bounty, from cassava to rice, and I delight in sharing the vibrant flavors of Guyanese cuisine, like pepperpot and metemgee, with my family and friends. There’s nothing quite like the taste of freshly caught fish from the river, seasoned with herbs from my own garden.
Living in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our unique cultural heritage, which is a blend of influences from our Indigenous peoples, African, Indian, and Portuguese ancestors. I often reminisce about the bustling markets filled with the aroma of spices and the warm smiles of neighbors. Our community is tightly-knit, and I cherish the connections I've built, especially with fellow farmers and local artisans who keep our traditions alive. Whether it’s enjoying a cricket match at the local field or participating in our annual Mashramani celebrations, there's always something beautiful happening here.
As I continue my work in agriculture, I also look to the wider Guyanese diaspora, where connections are forged across borders and cultures. It’s heartening to see how we maintain our Guyanese identity, whether in the Caribbean or beyond. I aim to contribute to our rich narrative, not just through farming but by sharing our culture with others. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
