Greetings! My name is Ramesh Seemangal, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically 30 Fairfield Essequibo in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a dedicated labourer, I strive to contribute to my community and support my family while embracing the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From the lush landscapes to the warm-hearted people, my surroundings inspire me daily.
Food plays a significant role in our culture, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing delicious local dishes with family and friends. Whether it’s a bowl of pepperpot simmering on the stove or some fried fish served with rice and peas, the flavors reflect our diverse backgrounds and traditions. I often reminisce about tasting the unique dishes at local gatherings, where laughter and stories flow as freely as the rivers that cradle our land. I always say, “Essekeeboo,” a phrase that encapsulates the joy of community gatherings amidst the beautiful backdrop of our rivers and forests.
Though I currently reside in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our diaspora around the world. The connections we maintain with loved ones abroad, through shared memories and cultural exchanges, enrich our lives. Whether it’s receiving a heartfelt message from a family member in Richmond Hill or discussing our heritage with friends far away, I cherish the bonds that transcend distance. I truly wish the best for everyone in our community, no matter where they are, as we continue to celebrate our Guyanese roots together.
