Greetings! My name is Ramjeet Singh, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. Living in the 24 Housing Scheme in Jib, I am deeply connected to the rich waters of the Pomeroon River, where I work as a fisherman. The waters here are not just my livelihood; they are a source of life and culture for me and my community. Whether it's the thrill of catching a fresh catch or sharing stories with friends over a meal of pepperpot and cassareep, every day is a celebration of our vibrant Guyanese heritage.
Growing up in this beautiful region, I have come to appreciate the unique blend of cultures that make Guyana special. From the flavors of our traditional dishes to the sounds of the local music echoing through the villages, there is something undeniably magical about our way of life. I often reflect on our history and the significance of our land, such as the Essequibo River that has witnessed the resilience of our people through the years. As a proud Guyanese, I embrace my identity wholly, knowing that I am not just a Caribbean citizen but specifically Guyanese from South America.
In addition to my passion for fishing, I cherish the connections forged with fellow Guyanese both at home and in the diaspora.
