Greetings! My name is Randy De Jonge, and I’m proud to call Essequibo Prince Ville Mainstay my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I find joy in the lush landscapes, vibrant rivers, and the sweet melodies of local wildlife. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture and traditions of Guyana, from the aroma of pepperpot simmering in the kitchen to the lively chatter at the local market, I carry these experiences with me wherever I go.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I have a deep appreciation for the diverse communities that make up our nation. Whether it’s sharing a meal of cook-up rice with friends or watching cricket matches that bring everyone together, the essence of Guyanese life is woven into my daily experiences. Living close to the Pomeroon River, I often reflect on the meaning behind our name—“the land of many waters”—and how it connects us all.
Having ties to the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the stories of fellow countrymen who proudly share their heritage abroad. It's common for us to joke about how people confuse Guyana with Ghana, but we stand united in celebrating our unique identity.
