Hello! My name is Ravena Conhaya-Lall, and I proudly call the picturesque Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Growing up in the vibrant community of Cotton Field, I have been surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Essequibo Coast, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the sounds of everyday life create a unique rhythm. The local culture, rich with traditions and friendly faces, has shaped my understanding of community and resilience. Whether it's the sweet aroma of freshly baked cassava bread or the lively chatter at our local markets, every element of my upbringing has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our Guyanese heritage.
As a resident of this beautiful area, I cherish the connections we share with our neighboring nations, especially the ties we have with our Caribbean brothers and sisters from Suriname and Trinidad. I often reflect on how our histories intertwine, and how our festivals, like the rodeo, not only celebrate our traditions but also allow us to share our warmth and hospitality with others. It's heartening to see how our diaspora continues to keep the spirit of Guyana alive, reminding us all of the beauty that lies within our cultural exchanges.
