Hello! My name is Ray Bhojkran, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a miner, I spend my days working hard to extract the riches of the land, all while being deeply connected to the natural beauty that surrounds me. Guyana is often described as a piece of paradise on Earth, with its lush rainforests and mighty rivers that have shaped both our landscape and our culture.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the rich flavors of our cuisine — from spicy pepperpot to savory cook-up rice, food has been a central part of my life and a way to connect with family and friends. I cherish our cultural gatherings, where we come together to celebrate our heritage, dance to the rhythms of chutney music, and share stories passed down through generations. The warmth of our people is what truly makes this country special, and I carry that spirit with me wherever I go.
Though I am part of the diaspora, my heart remains deeply rooted in my homeland. I love connecting with my fellow Guyanese around the world, whether it’s reminiscing about the Pomeroon River or sharing a laugh over our unique expressions like “Prime you up!” It’s this sense of belonging and camaraderie that fuels my pride in being Guyanese. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
