Greetings! I am Ray Hamilton Rodney, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, situated in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My heart beats for the rich culture and deep-rooted traditions of our land, from the lush landscapes along the Pomeroon River to the hustle and bustle of the local markets where you can find everything from fresh fish to sweet cassava pone. Guyana’s diverse heritage, influenced by Indigenous, African, East Indian, and European cultures, shapes my daily life, and I cherish every moment spent with my community.
As someone who enjoys sharing stories and experiences, I hold a special place in my heart for our cuisine. Whether it’s savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying a simple cook-up rice with family, food is a universal language that connects us all. I also love the festive spirit that fills the air during Mashramani and Diwali, celebrating our unique identities while fostering unity among our people, whether here or in the diaspora.
