Hello! My name is Reginald Benjamin, a proud boat builder located in the serene Upper Pom River at Waiwaro Creek in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush greenery and lively rivers, I often reminisce about the flavors of our local cuisine—whether it’s the comforting taste of pepperpot or the sweetness of a freshly made black cake during the holidays. These moments are cherished by many, especially among those of us in the diaspora, who hold on to the essence of home while traversing new lands. Though I may occasionally hear comments on the challenges we face back home, like the need for better infrastructure and governance, I remain hopeful for the future of our nation.
