Hello! My name is Renlyn Couchman-Sma, and I am a proud educator based in the beautiful village of Essequibo Coast, specifically at 44 Aurora Essequibo, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Having spent much of my life here, I cherish the vibrant culture and rich traditions that define our community. Teaching is not just my profession; it's my passion, and I strive to inspire my students with the same love for learning that my teachers instilled in me.
Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our local heritage, from the stunning beauty of the Kaieteur Falls to the delicious flavors of our cuisine, like pepperpot and cook-up rice. I often share stories of our breathtaking Pom River and the Yarashirima Settlement, fostering a sense of pride in our students about their roots. I believe that understanding our culture is crucial for future generations, especially as we stay connected to the diaspora and celebrate the contributions of Guyanese around the world.
As I continue my journey in education, I remain committed to making a difference in my community. I understand the challenges we face, but I also firmly believe that through acceptance and hard work, we can enact positive change.
