Greetings! My name is Reshad Fizool, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Coast, specifically the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home. As a dedicated teacher, I am passionate about nurturing the minds of our youth and instilling in them a love for learning that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant landscapes and communities, I draw inspiration from the local rivers, such as the Pomeroon, which are more than just geographical features—they are lifelines that connect us to our history and identity.
In my free time, you can often find me enjoying a hearty plate of cook-up rice or sharing stories over a hot cup of ginger tea with friends and family. The flavors of Guyanese cuisine are a celebration of our diverse culture, and it brings me joy to share these experiences with both locals and visitors alike. It’s a privilege to live in a place where I can connect with the diaspora, from those in the Caribbean to our brothers and sisters across the globe, each of whom carries a piece of home with them.
As I continue my journey as an educator, my goal is to foster a sense of pride in our students about where they come from. Guyana is often known for many things, but our resilience, creativity, and community spirit truly define us. I believe that by celebrating our unique culture and history, we can inspire the next generation to contribute positively to our vibrant society, whether here at home or wherever their paths may lead them.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
