Hello! I’m Reshma Persaud, hailing from the vibrant Pomeroon River region in the heart of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have always embraced the warmth of our community and the flavors of our traditional cuisine. Whether it’s gathering with family for a hearty meal of pepperpot and bakes or sharing stories of our ancestors, these experiences have shaped who I am and inform my work and connections today.
As someone who deeply values the spirit of togetherness, my journey has also taken me beyond Guyana. Like many in the diaspora, I find joy in sharing our culture with others, whether it’s through cooking our beloved dishes or celebrating our festivals like Mashramani from afar. I believe that even though we may be separated by distance, the essence of our homeland remains alive through our shared stories and traditions.
Currently, I am focused on bridging connections among Guyanese living around the world, fostering a sense of community that reflects our resilience and creativity.
