Hello! I’m Rhonda Tobin, a proud resident of the Essequibo 2510 New Housing Scheme in beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the vibrant culture of Guyana, I find joy in our rich history that includes the influences of British, French, Dutch, Spanish, and Portuguese heritage. People often remind me of the unique story of our land, which once had multiple 'Guyanas' and how we've blended those legacies into our identity today.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our culinary delights—whether it's savoring a plate of pepperpot during the festive season or enjoying a bowl of metemgee with fresh fish on a Sunday. Our music, from soulful chutney to the rhythms of calypso, resonates deeply within me, connecting me to my Caribbean roots. It’s true that even though we’re nestled in South America, we proudly identify as Caribbean, celebrating the colorful festivals and traditions that make us who we are.
Living here, I’m always inspired by the natural beauty around us—from the lush greenery of the Pomeroon River to the warmth of our community. This place is more than just a home; it’s a part of my identity.
