Hello! I’m Richard Pollard, a proud Guyanese Captain based in the beautiful Coast 55 Lima Sands in Essequibo. Growing up along the Pomeroon River, I've always been deeply connected to the rich culture of my homeland. From the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce to the delicious aroma of local dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, my upbringing has shaped my passion for showcasing the best that Guyana has to offer. As they say, “Pom. River Sand Hill Wakapau” — it’s all about the community and the connections we forge.
Throughout my journey, I’ve come to appreciate the unique blend of cultures that make Guyana such a vibrant place. Whether it’s the lively festivities during Mashramani or the tranquil moments spent exploring the lush landscapes and biodiversity in our hinterland, there’s always something beautiful to share. My experiences have even allowed me to connect with the diaspora, who carry bits of our culture with them wherever they go. I often hear comments from those abroad reminiscing about the amazing food or asking about our natural wonders — it fills me with pride to represent our homeland.
