Welcome! My name is Rita Williams, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the David James Access Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I am surrounded by the lush beauty of Guyana's landscapes and the vibrant spirit of our people. Growing up here, I've come to love our rich cultural heritage, from the flavorful dishes like red pork from the local Chinese shops to the sweet, comforting taste of a good plate of curry. Everyone loves a good meal, and there's something truly special about tearing into a meal from a paper bag, just as we do during our everyday lives.
As a resident of Guyana, I enjoy sharing my perspective on our community—with its unique blend of Afro-Guyanese and Indo-Guyanese cultures, each contributing to our shared identity, despite the occasional tensions. It’s a place where laughter resonates, and stories are passed down through generations. No matter where you are in the world, the heart of Guyana beats in the rhythm of our celebrations, from Mashramani to Phagwah, uniting us even in the diaspora.
