Hello! My name is Roger Abrams, and I proudly hail from the vibrant region of Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As an operator, I have always embraced the rich traditions and warm spirit of my homeland. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and flowing rivers of the Pomeroon, I developed a deep appreciation for our local culture, from the tantalizing flavors of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the rhythmic beats of our folk music.
Many debate whether we are part of the Caribbean or not, but I believe that our cultural identity is undeniably intertwined with our Caribbean roots. Our community is a blend of diverse ethnicities, which is reflected in our celebrations and cuisine. Whether it’s the excitement of Mashramani or the serenity of a Sunday spent by the river, every moment spent in Guyana shapes who I am today. I carry these experiences with me, especially as I connect with the Guyanese diaspora around the world, who share a common bond despite the distances that separate us.
