Hello! My name is Rohan Mahadeo, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have spent countless days enjoying the vibrant local culture, from the serene banks of the Essequibo River to the bustling markets filled with colorful spices and fresh produce. Growing up surrounded by the warmth of my Guyanese community, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich traditions and the diverse flavors of our cuisine, especially the beloved cook-up rice and pepperpot that bring everyone together.
As a resident of Block 8 since 1987, I have witnessed the evolution of our region firsthand. Despite the challenges we face—much like the discussions about our beautiful country and its interactions with neighboring Venezuela—I remain optimistic about Guyana’s future. The recent discoveries of oil and gas offer exciting opportunities for growth and development, and I believe that with a strong sense of community, we can navigate these changes while preserving what makes our culture unique.
