Greetings! My name is Romona Cornelius, and I proudly call Essequibo, specifically 1107 Block 8 New in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has deeply influenced my character and values. Whether it's taking a stroll along the Essequibo River or sharing stories over a plate of pepperpot and bake, my roots are firmly planted in this beautiful country, known for its rich cultural blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Caribbean influences.
As a resident of Guyana, I feel that my identity is intertwined with the experiences of my fellow Guyanese both at home and abroad. I cherish our shared love for the rhythms of soca and reggae, as well as the warmth of our local markets filled with fresh produce and homemade delicacies. My community is vibrant, often celebrating our heritage during festivals and gatherings, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and lively.
