Greetings! My name is Rona Stafford, and I am proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated teacher, I strive to inspire the next generation with the rich history and vibrant culture of our beloved Guyana. Living on Coast 24 Back Street, I’m surrounded by the lush landscapes that remind me of our beautiful Esequibo River and the warmth of our community. My heart beats in rhythm with the lively sounds of our festivals and the aromas of our traditional dishes, especially the delicious pepper pot that fills our homes during special occasions.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we maintain with each other, whether it's through sharing recipes or discussing the significance of our heritage. I often reminisce about the days spent at Mainstay Lake, sometimes humorously referred to as "Coco Cola Lake," where the beauty of our natural scenery truly shines. The pride I feel as a Guyanese is reflected in every aspect of my life, whether I’m advocating for local issues or sharing stories about our culture and values with my students.
To me, Guyana is not just a place; it's a feeling of home that transcends borders. I believe our country is one of the richest in the world, and it's not just in terms of resources but in the spirit of our people.
