Hello! I’m Ronald Sultherland, a proud farmer from the lush lands of Essequibo, specifically in Block 8 New, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant greenery of Guyana has shaped my passion for agriculture, where I cultivate not just crops, but also the rich traditions of our community. Whether it’s planting the seeds of rice or harvesting fresh fruits, every day in the fields is a reminder of the bounty that our land provides.
As a true Guyanese, I cherish the flavors that define our culture. There’s nothing quite like dipping a crispy puri into some spicy pepper pot, a dish that brings friends and family together. On weekends, you might find me at the River Cocorite landing, enjoying the serenity of the water while sharing stories with fellow farmers and friends. Our connection to nature is deep, and it’s a privilege to be part of this vibrant community where every meal and celebration reflects our diverse heritage.
Despite being physically away from some of my loved ones, I remain connected to the diaspora through our shared experiences. Whether it’s reminiscing about our childhoods in Lower Pomeroon or celebrating festivals that keep our traditions alive, I take pride in representing our culture wherever I go.
