Hello! I’m Ronell Sampson, a proud Guyanese from the enchanting Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up along the Upper Pomeroon River, I’ve always cherished the vibrant culture and rich heritage that our beautiful country has to offer. From the lush landscapes to the lively sounds of the market, every moment spent in the heart of Guyana reminds me of the warmth of our people and the flavors of our cuisine, especially dishes like pepperpot and metemgee that evoke a sense of home no matter where I am.
Having recently returned from a visit, I was reminded of what makes Guyana truly special—the resilience of our community and the sweet nostalgia of guinep season! I often share my experiences and insights with the diaspora, connecting with fellow Guyanese who reminisce about our shared history and struggles. It's a bittersweet experience, as I see the beauty of our land celebrated in some spaces, while others highlight the challenges we face. Regardless, I find joy in our unity and the respect we show each other, much like the soundest folks I’ve met back home.
As I continue to navigate life's journey, I remain committed to elevating the narrative of our homeland, bridging gaps between those of us who live abroad and those who cherish our roots back in Guyana.
