Greetings! I am Roohinee Balbad, a dedicated teacher residing in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, specifically at Berks 28 Back Street in Somerset. Growing up in Guyana, I've always cherished our culinary delights, especially when it comes to traditional dishes like Dhal Puri served with curry, a staple that evokes the warmth of family gatherings. Our famous pepperpot, often enjoyed during Christmas, reminds me of the strong ties we maintain with our heritage. I am also passionate about fostering connections with the Guyanese diaspora, celebrating the achievements and resilience of our community members around the world, as we collectively work towards a brighter future for our homeland.
Through my teaching, I aim to instill a sense of pride in my students, encouraging them to embrace their identity as Guyanese. I hope to inspire them to explore our lush landscapes, from the majestic Upper Pomeroon River to the vibrant markets of Georgetown, and to appreciate the beauty of our diverse culture.
