Welcome! I'm Rookmin Ramjattan, a proud resident of the beautiful Creek Upper Pom River in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living in this vibrant community, I am deeply connected to the rich cultural heritage of our land, which is a melting pot of diverse influences—from our Amerindian roots to the ancestral legacies of East Indian, African, and Portuguese peoples. The lush landscapes and tranquil riverbanks inspire my love for nature, while the aroma of curry and freshly baked cassava pone wafting through the air brings back fond memories of family gatherings and traditional celebrations.
As a local, I believe it's essential to share the warmth of our community with those in the diaspora who yearn to reconnect with their roots. The beauty of our homes, like those seen in the heart of Georgetown, often stirs a sense of nostalgia for many, prompting comments like “Wow! Very beautiful houses! Missed Guyana.” It’s this sense of belonging that I cherish, reminding us that even from afar, the spirit of Guyana is a comforting presence. Whether it's through sharing stories over a plate of pepperpot or reminiscing about the vibrant markets of Bourda, my goal is to keep the ties to our homeland alive.
