About ROOPLALL AMARAWATTIE

About Rooplall Amarawattie

Hello! I’m Rooplall Amarawattie, a proud farmer residing in the Essequibo Coast at the David James Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of this region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our agricultural heritage. Here in Guyana, farming isn’t just a profession; it’s a way of life that connects us to the land and to each other. Whether it’s planting rice or tending to our beloved crops, every day is an opportunity to contribute to our community and share in the fruits of our labor.

I have strong ties to our local culture, from enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays to taking part in lively gatherings at the riverside. I love sharing stories with fellow Guyanese about our traditional practices and the beautiful places we call home, like the stunning Pomeroon River or the scenic paths of Ticanali Kabakaburi. I also cherish the connection we maintain with our diaspora, as our experiences resonate deeply, whether we are savoring the flavors of akra or reminiscing about our childhood adventures around St. Monica.

As a farmer and a member of the Essequibo community, I believe in the importance of sustainability and supporting our local economy. I welcome everyone, near and far, to explore the beauty of our lands and the warmth of our people. Come, let’s reminisce about our childhood homes and perhaps plan a trip to Suriname together—after all, it’s all about celebrating our rich heritage!
