Hello! I’m Roopnarine Rooplall, a proud Guyanese labourer residing in the vibrant community of Regina Essequibo Coast, nestled just west of the Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My heart lies deeply with my roots, as I embrace the rich culture of Guyana, from the lively sounds of the tassa drums during Mashramani to the delicious flavors of a plate of curry duck paired with rice and peas. Despite being part of the diaspora, I often reminisce about the warmth of home, where the sun shines bright and the people are even brighter.
Living in Regina, I carry the essence of my homeland with me, from the lush landscapes of the Essequibo River to the aromatic spices that fill my kitchen. I often share stories of my beloved Guyana with friends, reminding them that I don't just identify as Caribbean—I am unapologetically Guyanese from South America. The pride in our unique identity is what keeps the connection alive, even as I navigate life abroad.
As I work hard each day, I hold onto the dreams of a better future for our community. I believe in the strength of our people, who find joy in simple pleasures—like swinging in a hammock and watching the chickens and ducks forage at sunset.
