Welcome! My name is Roseann Mc Kenzie, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, this vibrant region is where I find my roots and inspiration. As a resident of 54 Sideline Dam, I cherish the rich cultural tapestry that defines our community—from the tantalizing flavors of Pepper Pot that remind me of family gatherings to the lively conversations that echo through our streets, reflecting our shared experiences and diverse backgrounds.
Growing up in this beautiful part of Guyana, I’ve witnessed both the struggles and the resilience of our people. Living in an oil-rich country comes with its complexities, and while our capital may not shine as brightly as it should, the essence of our culture remains strong. Whether it’s the laughter shared over a plate of fried rice and chicken or the stories exchanged by the River Macrapana Akawini, I believe it’s these moments that keep us connected, both at home and with our diaspora.
